The Golden Horse Casino opened in September 2001, is much more then just a casino in Kwazulu-Natal. Set in the hillside country of Pietermaritzburg the Capital of Kwazulu-Natal, it’s the only casino in Africa linked to a racecourse, promising a truly unique gaming experience
Sharing the premises of the Scottsville Racecourse in Pietermaritzburg, the casino boasts a number of restaurants, a conference facility and a 96-room hotel. Standing at the front entrance of the Casino is the biggest horse Statue in the World, our 14-meter Pegasus. Other facilities that are offered at the Golden Horse Casino are a Golf Driving Range and a BMX track, which has hosted the SA Champs. The Golden Horse Casino funded the construction of the Olwazini Discovery Center, a world-class interactive learning center that highlights many aspects of Science, Technology and Culture. Under the patronage of King Goodwill Zwelithini, this interactive environment offers resources for over 600 schools, giving children of all ages and backgrounds the chance to experience this unique merging of physics and cultural heritage.
His Majesty, King Goodwill Zwelithini, officially opened the centre on 24 July 2002.
